Who is it for
If it hurts when you run and you know it shouldn’t, or you want to improve your technique for a middle or long distance event, then this course will benefit you. Or you’ve already sustained an injury from running and want to prevent future injuries from occurring – this course will help you achieve techniques that will make running what it should be: a natural movement unaccompanied by tension and fear.
What others are saying
Browse our testimonials from previous workshops before making up your mind.
What you learn
We teach you how to combine the very best of old school running techniques with the unique insights into human movement provided by Tony Riddle. At our course you will:
- See how you run today and what it means for your performance
- Learn what natural running really means and why you get injured
- Observe and practice with skilled natural runners
- Experience what running naturally feels like
- Learn to perfect your running and control your injuries
In a nutshell – running in accordance with the natural laws will make you run further, faster, more efficiently and with fewer injuries. All you need bring is commitment – there’s no “free meal” when learning a new skill.
After our courses, we can help provide a full programme to continue your education and help you develop your running further.
Format of the “Run injury free” weekend
Day 1: Fundamentals of old school running
On day 1 we record video of your current running style followed by presentation of our injury model and the first principle of old school running: “First run well, technically”.
We’ll look at individual bio mechanical analysis of your running style with bespoke prescription of exercises and drills. Most of the day will be practice including a personalised 1-to-1 with Tony Riddle where you get taken through a ”takeaway” programme for your individual needs. We finish with you putting everything back together – video analysis again and feedback.
Day 2: Fundamentals of old school training
On day 2, we always have a few surprises in store but we will take you through the natural movements of man – all of which feed into perfecting your running stride and improving your overall movement ability.
We move outdoors to record your uphill and downhill running as well as provide basic training on how to move effectively across obstacles – balancing, jumping, vaulting and other movements are all covered here along with methods to make natural exercise part of your daily life.
In the afternoon, we analyse your uphill/downhill running before conducting a running circuit to improve your running skills further. The day ends with a final recording of your running uphill/downhill before video analysis and Q&A.
