Rene Borg - RCI Head Coach

"If someone tells you they have all the answers, you know they are definitely wrong."
René Borg is an expatriated Dane settled in the Wicklow mountains in Ireland where he plies his trade as a competitive road and mountain runner and Head Coach for local club Glendalough AC. He has coached several successful athletes such as 2:17 marathoner Barry Minnock, Lakeland 100mile winner and former Irish Wicklow Way record holder Paul Tierney.
Part of the first group of coaches educated by the Lydiard Foundation he has dedicated most of the last decade to reinterpreting the works of the ‘Three Wise Men of Running’: Arthur Newton, Percy Cerutty and Arthur Lydiard for the context of modern day runners. Particularly asking the question ‘why can our generation not replicate the standards of the 1950’s to 1970’s?’ and ‘why do we get injured so easily when they did not?’.
Chance encounters with the philosophies of Lee Saxby, MovNat and Ido Portal led to a change in perspective – today’s runners do not have the optimal environment for proper movement and health that existed to a greater extent pre-1980s.
Jason Kehoe - Neuromuscular Therapist

"Play, move, laugh, learn, surround yourself with the best people, do the simple things consistently."
RCI works with JK Therapy for any injury issues with our clients. Jason Kehoe runs his Neuromuscular Physical Therapy & Injury clinic in Tallaght, Dublin, where he treats all manner of injuries and joint pain in conjunction with analysing running technique. Jason was the Irish Mountain Running Champion in 2015 & 2017,
He puts running technique and mobility as the primary foundation all other physical aspects of athletics training should be built upon. He was part of the first group of athletic coaches educated by the Lydiard Foundation, USA, and began coaching athletes around the world using the Lydiard method.
A natural coach and sportsman from a very young age, he stumbled into running where a passion developed for Mountain Running. He found out quickly what the term ‘running fit’ meant through the teachings of legendary New Zealand running coach Arthur Lydiard.
He represented Ireland in mountain running and is one of only a handful of runners to have won the prestigious Carrauntoohil Mountain race (Ireland’s highest peak), he won the Hell & Back obstacle race (despite missing the start!) and regularly competes with his club Crusaders A/C in national Cross Country and road races. He is a qualified Gymnastics coach and MovNat™ certified trainer.

Things are starting to click for me now as I suddenly realise I’m running in a far lighter, more upright style, than my usual heavy shuffle.
“As a weekend runner who has never learnt any technique and who has had only one serious injury in a decade of plodding, more thanks to luck than anything else, my curiosity is seriously piqued.
